How to Play

Keep the ball in play with your cue and pot every ball on the table. Clear a frame and a harder one is racked. The run ends when you lose your last life.

Controls: move the mouse or drag a finger to move the cue; click or tap the table, press Space, or use the Release button to break off or let a chalked ball go. The right mouse button does nothing during a run. Arrow keys or A/D also move the cue. P pauses, M mutes the sound and F goes full screen.

Points: . Balls with a silver ring take more than one hit.

Bumpers can't be potted. Brass just rebounds. Silver (») sends your ball off 70% faster until it next strikes something on the table. Gold (×2) doubles your next pot or pocket, and every extra gold you hit before you score adds another ×2: two golds pay ×4, three pay ×6, and so on.

Challenge a Frame: replay any frame you have cleared in a normal run, on its own, at the speed a run has when it gets there. It costs 10,000 Mortis Marks times the frame number, plus your ball. You start with one life (extra lives still count if you earn them), and the challenge ends when the frame is cleared or the ball is lost. Points pay as usual, frame records and high scores count, and a reload loses it.

Building a break: pot a red, then a colour, then a red, and each pot is worth more — up to 8 times its value. Two reds or two colours in a row resets it, and so does losing a life.

Your ball: the ball you choose sets the entry fee and multiplies everything you score. Your score is what you win, in Mortis Marks. The Cue Ball is free to play and pays a tenth of your score, so you can start with no Marks at all. Every paid ball breaks even at the same point.

Speed: the Speed readout is how fast the ball is travelling compared with a Red ball at break-off. It climbs with every frame, with each hit off your cue (until you lose a life) and the longer a frame takes. Drag Shot slows it; Top Spin, Screw Back and a silver bumper speed it up. Higher balls also start faster: Yellow 4% up to Black 24%.

Pockets: a lit pocket pays a bonus when the ball comes off the cushion at its mouth, then goes dark until you pot another ball.

Total Clearance: take all four pockets without potting a ball in between and everything left on the table explodes. Every ball pays times its value and the frame is yours.

Capsules drop from some potted balls. Catch one with the cue to use it; let the red ones fall. The rarer a capsule, the more it glows: the rarest are bright and pulsing, and the Golden Ball is gold. Effects stack: catching one you already have adds to its time, and shots queue up to fire one after another. With Swerve you steer: the ball bends toward whichever side of the table your cue is on, harder the further from centre it is, and runs straight when the cue is in the middle. Two are rare: Extra Life, a green +1, adds a life (up to ten); Colour Change flashes through the eight balls, and when you catch it your ball becomes the colour it was showing and pays that multiplier from then on. Catch it on Black. Or don't catch it at all.

Frame bonus: clearing a frame pays points times the frame number: frame 1 once, frame 2 twice, and so on. Like every point you score, it is multiplied by your ball.

Extra lives: you earn one for every balls you pot, up to lives. The line under your lives counts down to the next one.

Pausing: a run has 5 minutes of pause time in total. While paused you can add a minute for the price of your entry fee (free on the Cue Ball), up to 30 minutes in hand. Leaving the tab pauses for you. If the game is closed without pausing, the run is held on the same clock, and coming back to it costs a life.
